 3¡¢ Turn the meter off.

Checking the Amount of Blood on the Test Strip

It is very important that the drop of blood should be large enough to cover the test spot completely, although the  Meter requires only a drop of blood.

As the meter can not detect if the drop of blood was too small to give an accurate reading every time. So after finished test, it is important check the test strip to make sure that you applied enough blood.

¢ÙAfter finished test, remove the test strip from the meter.

¢ÚLook at the test spot, it should still have a wet, shing drop that completely covers the test spot. If the blood sample has a dull, dry appearance, you may not have applied enough blood.

¢ÛLook at the back of the test strip, you should see a full circle.

If the blood was not enough, it can not cover the whole test  spot and the back of the test spot will not be average. In either case, you may have a false low result. Repeat the test with a new test strip.

¢û.Questions for Blood Glucose Testing

ask: How many times should I test blood?

Answer: The times of test blood is a patient or healthcare professional according to patient¡¯s age, medication, health and diabetes¡¯level.

Ask: Are the every test result same?

Answer: Not. Every test result maybe different. The test results are related to patient¡¯s diet, exercise, health and test¡¯s time. And the changes of test results are helpful to patients and healthcare professional in controlling diabetes and adjust treatment plan. After the doctor examined the patient¡¯s health, he will adjust treatment plan and advice the patient to keep blood glucose level in and ¡°ideal range¡±. If patients follow doctor¡¯s treatment plan, in most cases, the blood glucose test results were kept in the ¡°ideal range¡±.

Ask: How to obtain accurate blood glucose test results?

Answer: Patients should pay attention to below items:

¡ô     Keeping the Blood Glucose Meter clean;

Ask: How is the blood glucose level should if controlling diabetes well?

Answer:

 time                       range: mg/dL                range: mmol/L

8 hours before meals          70¡«120                     3.9¡«6.7

30 minutes after meals       100¡«180                     5.6¡«10.0

1 hour after meals            90¡«170                     5.0¡«9.4

2 hours after meals           75¡«135                     3.9¡«6.7

Ask: Why are the meter test results different from hospital laboratory test results?

Answer:  Blood Glucose Meter made with these test strips are calibrated to whole blood while most laboratories measure glucose on plasma or serum-the part of blood remaining when red blood cells are removed. This means that laboratories using plasma or serum samples will produce glucose concentrations about 12% higher than your  brand meter results. To compare your meter result with the laboratory result divided by 1.12.
